Barbara Chapman, Managing Director

Barbara joined Sterling HR Outsourcing Ltd as a Managing Director in 1999 with the objective of broadening the base of services the Company offers to include Consultancy. The success of consultancy to the business has resulted in an increased profile and a competitive edge within the region. Barbara oversees consulting projects within the Company and has responsibility for researching products and services and new business development.

Barbara is committed to working with people and organisations to reach their potential. She has expertise in Change Management, Organisational Development and HR Strategic Planning. Her innovative approach to the increasingly popular service of Executive Coaching offers practical solutions to everyday leadership challenges. Executive coaching fine-tunes a leader's best qualities, and Barbara works closely with leaders to develop many vital skills that enhance leadership making leaders stronger, more persuasive and influential, more articulate, and in the end more effective.

She has extensive Senior Management experience in Training and Development and Organisational Development in New Zealand and the USA. Her corporate experience in New Zealand has been with New Zealand Post, as Organisational Development Leader for the Letters Group, and Toyota New Zealand as the Manager of the Toyota Training Institute. Both national positions provided excellent background in New Zealand businesses and culture.

Her career began as a High School teacher in her home State of Hawaii, after gaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Educational Psychology. She became interested in Organisational Psychology, and gained her Master of Arts from the University of California at Los Angeles. Barbara began to develop commercial experience while working for United Airlines in California, and a large retail chain in Hawaii.

Barbara grew up on the island of Maui, Hawaii. Even though she has lived in New Zealand for many years, she still thinks of Maui as home, and often enjoys the local life with her family and friends who live there.
